Afterschool Cooking Program (12-Week Series)

Hands-on cooking classes for kids & teens in Wappingers Falls + Highland, NY

Give your child a fun, skill-building afterschool activity where they learn real cooking fundamentals, practice kitchen safety, and build confidence—one delicious recipe at a time.

Each 90-minute class includes an afterschool snack, a hands-on cooking lesson, and food to take home (what they make in class that day).


Class Schedule & Locations

Wappingers Falls, NY

  • Tuesdays: 3:45 PM – 5:15 PM

  • Wednesdays: 3:45 PM – 5:15 PM

Highland, NY

  • Thursdays: 3:45 PM – 5:15 PM

  • Fridays: 3:45 PM – 5:15 PM

Program Format: 12-week series (mini program)
Class Length: 90 minutes
Frequency: 1 class per week per student (choose one day/location)

Tuition & Commitment

$297 per month (includes four 90-minute afterschool cooking classes)
3 months total = 12 weeks

  • Students are committing to the full 12-week program when enrolling.

  • Tuition is paid monthly, in advance (each payment covers the next 4 classes).


12-Week Curriculum (Weekly Lesson Themes)

This is the rough flow of the program. Each “week” is one class.
Week 1 repeats each month as a new track progresses (Week 1, Week 2, Week 3… etc.).

Week 1 — Kitchen Safety + Snack Skills

  • Safety basics, hygiene, tools, measuring

  • Make: a fast afterschool snack + a simple take-home item

Week 2 — Knife Skills (Age-Appropriate) + Cutting Confidence

  • Safe knife grips, basic cuts, prep station setup

  • Make: chopped salad or veggie dish + dip/sauce

Week 3 — Breakfast for Dinner

  • Eggs / batter basics / stovetop skills

  • Make: breakfast-style meal + grab-and-go item

Week 4 — Pasta & Sauce Fundamentals

  • Boiling, timing, seasoning, sauce building

  • Make: pasta dish with a homemade sauce

Week 5 — Sandwiches, Wraps & Balanced Lunches

  • Protein + crunch + sauce + seasoning

  • Make: wraps/sandwiches + side snack

Week 6 — Soups & One-Pot Comfort Foods

  • Simmering, tasting, texture, seasoning layers

  • Make: soup or chili + simple side

Week 7 — International Street Food Night

  • Flavor exploration (not spicy—just bold and fun)

  • Make: global-inspired dish + sauce

Week 8 — Baking Basics

  • Measuring, mixing methods, oven safety

  • Make: baked good + take-home treat

Week 9 — Healthy Homemade Fast Food

  • Better versions of favorites (not fried fingers & fries)

  • Make: “fast-food style” meal + side

Week 10 — Pan Searing & Simple Proteins

  • Heat control, doneness, seasoning

  • Make: protein + veggie + starch combo

Week 11 — Meal Prep Basics

  • Batch components, storage, mixing-and-matching meals

  • Make: meal-prep box to take home

Week 12 — Finale Class: “Chef Challenge”

  • Students combine skills to create a dish as a team

  • Celebrate + take home their final creation
